J Wigmore Roofing Ltd is based at 10 Boxalls Lane, GU11, and a large share of my work is within a few minutes of my own front door. When you call about a roof in Aldershot, you're speaking to the roofer who will actually come out, look at it, quote it and do the work. Being based in the town means I know its streets and its roofs: the long Victorian and Edwardian terraces close to the town centre, the inter-war and post-war semis further out, the newer estates, and the garages, extensions and dormers that have been added to them over the years. ### Where I work in Aldershot I cover the whole of Aldershot across the GU11 and GU12 postcodes, from the town centre and North Town to the roads around Boxalls Lane, Heron Wood and the areas bordering Ash and Farnham. Several of my 10/10 Checkatrade reviews come from Aldershot homeowners, including a garage roof repaired in a day and a half, and a survey follow-up that included a flat roof, dormer roof and new lead flashing. ### Getting to you Because I'm based in GU11, Aldershot is the shortest trip I make. I don't run a 24-hour call-out service, but during normal working hours it's straightforward for me to arrange a visit to look at a problem and give you a fixed quote. ### Aldershot homes and roofs Aldershot grew rapidly as a military town from the mid-1800s, so it has a high proportion of older terraced and semi-detached houses with slate or clay tile roofs, many with chimneys that are no longer used. Later housing brought concrete tiles, flat-roofed garages and single-storey rear extensions. Each brings its own typical problems, and I'll explain what I see on your roof in plain terms. ### What Aldershot homeowners need most The jobs I'm asked about most in Aldershot are flat roof replacements on garages and extensions, replacing rotten timber fascias and soffits with uPVC, loose or slipped tiles and slates, blocked or failing guttering, and lead flashing around chimneys and where extensions meet the house. The roof work is of high quality, all areas were cleared up & all rubbish taken away.”- Verified Checkatrade reviewer, GU12 · Checkatrade 10/10 Common problems ## Roof Problems I See in Aldershot ### Ageing slate on older terraces Many of Aldershot's Victorian and Edwardian homes still have original or very old slate. Corroded nails let slates slip, and a few missing slates quickly becomes a leak. ### Redundant chimney stacks Older houses often have stacks that haven't served a fire for years. Weathered pointing and failed flashing make them a common leak point; removal is sometimes the better answer. ### Felt garage and extension roofs Flat-roofed garages and rear extensions from the 1960s onward often still have felt coverings that are cracking, blistering and letting water into the deck. ### Rotten fascias on bays and porches Timber fascias and soffits on bay windows and porches rot first and hold up your gutters. One Aldershot-area customer had fascias and soffits replaced and described the job as going smoothly from quote to finish. ### Blocked gutters from mature trees Tree-lined roads mean leaves and moss in gutters and downpipes, causing overflows and damp brickwork. ### Winter weather Wet, windy winters across Hampshire and Surrey find weak spots first: slipped tiles, tired flashing and blocked gutters. Getting small problems looked at in autumn avoids bigger repairs later.
